DIY: JDM S13 Non-Projector Headlight Conversion
The following is a “how-to” on wiring your bricks up the way Nissan intended!First you’ll need:
Silvia Non-projector headlights (DUH)
wire cutters
wire strippers
electrical tape (pick a your own color)
soldering iron (optional)
male & female spade connectors (also optional)The 240 harness has:
red/blue wire (+)
red/green wire (-)
red/white wire (ALT)The non-projector lights have 2 harnesses:
two wire harness:
red (+)
black (-)
three wire harness:
red (+)
black (-)
green (ALT)
First off, don’t be a dummy. Disconnect the (+) on your battery.
Second, strip all wires and expose at least an inch of wire on all the wires.
On the stock 240 harness for the headlights there are 3 wires attached to the 3 prong (H4) connector, get it and cut the adapter off. you won’t need it anymore unless you either plan on keeping the ugly flip up headlights or the equally ugly projector lights. If you wanna swap them out later it will be plug-n-play. All you have to do is splice the wires a little instead of cutting it completely.
Anyway, the bricks have 5 wires. The colors are black, red on one harness and black, red, and green on the other harness. This will be easier if you seporate the two harnesses wires.
Take the black wire from the two wire harness and twist it together with the bred/green wire(-) from the 240 harness.
Then take the black wire from the 3 wire harness and twist it with the red/green wire from the 240 harness also. You can solder it then tape it or just tape it. It’s your car.
Next take the red wire from the 2 wire harness and twist it together with the red/blue (+) wire from the 240 harness. Solder and tape it or just tape it.
Now that the two wire harness is done completely, take the green wire from the 3 wire harness and twist it together with the red/white (alt) wire from the 240 harness. Solder and tape it or just tape it.
Now for the red wire from the 3 wire harness. This one is completely optional. If you twist this together with the red/blue wire from the 240 harness then when you put your high beams on the low beams will stay on. If not then tape this wire off somewhere out of the way.
Now plug the 2 wire & 3 wire plugs into the corresponding places on the non-projector headlights then install the lights onto the Silvia brackets and fenders.
Guess what? You’re done. Install HID-look-a-like bulbs and enjoy. Now you can see when there are no street lights on at night without sitting up close to the windshield. Also, put your projectors on ebay and sell them to some new comer who just sold his Honda for a 240 because he saw Tokyo Drift. The ricers love em! Silly drifter, projectors are for ricers!
I left the spade connectors optional because they can be substituted for soldering.
If I left anything out then feel free to add something.
